Horse riding warriors – Phad painting


The art form draws its name from the long piece of cloth it is painted on, called Phad. They traditionally depict the narratives of the folk deities of Rajasthan, usually Pabuji and Devnarayan, who are worshipped as incarnations of Lord Vishnu and Laxman respectively.

Paintings will be shipped unframed.

A form of religious scroll painting from Rajasthan’s Bhilwara region, Phad originated over 700 years ago. Bhopas of Pabusar are the bards and also priests who are the traditional narrators of this art form.
