
About the Project
Our objective was to transform the ambience of Forefathers, a fusion restaurant in Hyderabad, with a bespoke light installation. Traditional South Indian elements and contemporary design practices came together in the installation reflecting the culinary ethos of the restaurant which marries local flavours with modern tastes.

Client Brief
The brief was to create a welcoming and visually appealing space that reflected the restaurant’s fusion concept. The installation had to combine the South Indian as well as contemporary design notes.

Design Process
Materials Used

- Telengana Dhurries: Traditional handwoven fabrics known for their vibrant motifs.
- Telia Rumal: Intricately patterned cloth which uses a unique oiling process.
- Leather Shadow Puppetry: Leather carving techniques to create dynamic light and shadow play.
- Plain Fabrics
- Frosted Stained Glass: For soft, diffused light, a warm ambiance.
- Corten Steel: Known for its weathered appearance and robustness, adding an industrial touch.
- Ikat: Patterned textiles with characteristic blurred lines bringing depth to the design.
Project Impact
This installation is not only a unique blend of traditional and modern aesthetics but also a functional piece that enhances the dining experience.
