This set of two handcrafted Gangaur dolls, featuring one male and one female figure, reflects the traditional Rajasthani aesthetic and is available in a variety of sizes and color options. Carefully carved from wood and hand-painted in rich detail, these dolls honour a centuries-old ritual of beauty, faith, and artistic expression.
The Significance of Gangaur
Rooted in Rajasthani tradition, the Gangaur festival honors Gauri (Parvati) and Gana (Shiva), symbolizing spring, prosperity and marital bliss. Women worship Gauri for well-being, love and longevity in marriage. Traditionally, dolls like these are painted annually by skilled artisans during the celebration.
Trove Craft India works closely with the last two living master craftsmen of this art form, both over the age of 65. Due to the intricacy and authenticity involved, production is limited and deeply valued.
