Baaya Experience Centre Newsletter – May 2025

In a world that craves connection and belonging, spaces are being reimagined, not just as functional, but as soulful sanctuaries. At Baaya, we believe art can transform how we feel within a space. The Experience Centre embodies this vision: a place for craft exploration, tactile discovery, and creative collaboration.

We invite homeowners, architects, and designers to co-create with us, building environments that go beyond beauty to become meaningful, human, and deeply personal expressions of design and emotion.

This copper enamel map reimagines Mumbai by peeling back the urban grid to reveal its raw, natural foundation, etched in contours and coastal memory. Crafted using traditional enameling and finished with antique copper leafing. Vivid flux tones trace mangroves, shores, and ecological rhythms.

A tribute to terrain as narrative. Perfect for collectors who value a deep connection to a place.

The elephant in the room?
It was handpainted by everyone.

Our Orissa Pattachitra workshop with Hand For Handmade and artist Universe Maharana explored traditional storytelling through craft, connecting heritage to contemporary spatial design. Participants experienced how age-old techniques and narratives can breathe life into modern interiors.

This Spring-Summer, Trove Craft returns to the Baaya Experience Centre with a refreshed collection that brings warmth, colour, and a quiet craft nostalgia to our space. Featuring handpainted, rustic pieces from South India, each work sits beautifully against the cool, stone-toned backdrop of our interiors.

Come, Experience them for yourself!

Chennai, India

Our most recent project is nestled along the serene coasts of Tamil Nadu – warm, blue, and the perfect canvas for a bespoke story. Set along its’s tranquil coast, Sound of Waves channels Chennai’s natural rhythms into a tactile design story. From an 11ft helix sculpture to copper and terracotta accents, every piece echoes the landscape-rooted, sculptural, and quietly bold. As we enter Phase 3 of the project, the narrative continues to unfold. The home becomes a coastal poem in material form, where craftsmanship meets calm. Designed to breathe, to flow, and to stay.
